If you’ve visited Riverwalk East lately, you may have noticed a new addition at Manatee Mineral Springs Park. The Singing River, a large-scale public art installation by artist Reinaldo Correa, is complete. The fencing has come down, and the pedestrian path through the installation is now open to the public.
The sculpture creates a flowing canopy of color above the walkway, inspired by the movement of the Manatee River. Painted aluminum elements catch the wind and produce soft tones as you walk beneath it, while integrated lighting brings it to life after dark. The Manatee River has long carried the nickname “The Singing River,” a name rooted in local history and legend. The sculpture reflects that spirit and is designed to be experienced, not just seen.
The piece was selected through a competitive process launched in 2023 that drew 119 submissions and was funded through the Bradenton Community Redevelopment Agency. A formal dedication is planned for May 13. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, stop by and take a look.
