The City of Bradenton is taking a more strategic, data-driven approach to improving road conditions across the community. Using advanced mapping technology in partnership with Orlando-based Roadway Management Technologies (RMT), the City has identified more than 30 paving projects scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
This marks the first time Bradenton has utilized the system to guide roadway improvements. “Overall, this program helps make travel in Bradenton safer, smoother, and more reliable by focusing on the roads that need repair the most,” said Umar Waraich, Infrastructure Engineer with the City’s Public Works and Utilities Department.
Much of Bradenton’s infrastructure was built decades ago and is now in need of repair and upgrades. Through our Face It, Fix It initiative, the City is addressing critical needs across mobility, including roadways and sidewalks, as well as wastewater, water distribution, and other essential services. This paving program is one of the many efforts supporting that work. The process begins with real-time data collection. RMT has equipped 18 City vehicles with sensors that measure roadway conditions as they travel through Bradenton. That data is analyzed and translated into easy-to-read maps showing the condition of streets citywide. Road conditions are displayed using a color- coded system: green indicates roads in good condition, yellow and orange indicate fair to moderate condition, and red highlights roads in poor condition that are in need of repair.
