The sailboat Grrrrr placed first following two races on Saturday in Terra Ceia Bay. The event was the 26th annual races sponsored by the Manatee Sailing Association.

With a crew of Sue Davidson, Clay Smith and JJ the team mastered the races under light winds in the first race and higher winds in the second.

A rewards banquet followed at Tropic Isles Yacht Club set up by member Gail Gordon. The awards began by honoring the prettiest boat in the race with a crew of Brigid and Dennis Vitton on the boat Aurora. The boat finishes were then announced, Jim McGinnis captained the boat Latitude to a fourth-place award. Rick and Adelia Jackerson were crew members on Latitude. Next, third place went to a crew of one steered by Ed Hartung on the boat Zig Zag. Before first place was announced, Poly Ester placed second captained by John Castellana with crew members Bobbie Goss, Don Trammel and Kim Trammel.

Starting the race and recording finish times were the responsibility of Bob and Debra Woithe on the committee boat. Sue Davidson was the race captain. The Manatee Sailing Association has been in existence for 42 years, formed in 1984. More information can be found on their website msasailing.org.
