The Manatee County Retired Educators Association (MCREA) just finished judging 70 essays in their annual Fifth Grade Essay Contest. Contest co-chairs were Kris Williamson and Candy DeLazzer. Judges were Deborah Thomas, Diana Buell, Elaine Waldron, Marcia Lapham, Pamela Helman, and Sharyn Hundley. The following winners and their teachers will receive gift cards during award ceremonies at their schools. The first place winner will be submitted to the Florida Retired Educators Association (FREA) District essay competition & possibly to the state essay competition.
The winners are as follows: 1st Place: Jazzmyne W. – Palma Sola Elementary (Mrs. Holt) 2nd Place: (There was a tie): Alia K. – Willis Elementary (Mrs.McGregor) and Madison E.. – Willis Elementary (Mrs. McGregor) 3rd Place: (There was a tie): Kinley J. – Abel Elementary (Mrs. Dalton), Nathaniel K. – Abel Elementary (Ms. Gardini), and Olivia B. – Palma Sola Elementary (Mrs. Holt)
