Growing up in Manatee County my entire life, I’ve seen many changes here in town over the past nearly 4 decades, but certain things never change – including a curious quest of a fellow Palmetto native’s desire to age.

Local 5k running enthusiast Chad Burton (whom you may recognize from local – and I do mean local – television) turned 38 years old this past Saturday as he rapidly approaches his next milestone of turning the old age of 40. He attributes his rapid approach to advancing his years to how he approaches running 5k races: “One step closer to the finish line,” said Burton when asked for insight on how he seems to age and grow older so quickly.

Steadfast in his commendable effort, Chad has often used his local television celebrity status to solicit on-air requests for additional information on how to grow older, most notably approximately 62 days prior to his next milestone. In sheer bewilderment of this man’s relentless pursuit to obtain something as unorthodox as wanting to age…not younger, but older, I reached out to Chad for further comment.

“But I haven’t been this old very long,” Chad stated with a sincere tone of disappointment in his voice.

I guess some things do change in Manatee County, but we can always count on Chad proudly getting older on his journey to the finish line.

In all seriousness, Happy Birthday to my oldest friend and we all here at NRN thank you for your help thus far with the North River News
