Saturday, December 13 celebrated the “officially-official” opening of Smiley Face Cafe with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The locally owned grab-and-go coffee and breakfast spot is located 923 10th Street East in the Joey D’s plaza.

The owners’ goal was to create a warm, approach-able place where people could grab a great cup of coffee, pick up breakfast or lunch, and feel genuinely welcome. After more than 10 years in the food and beverage industry in Austin, TX, they wanted to build something small, intentional, and community-focused.

Their concept blends an Austin-inspired coffee and food culture with a laid-back Florida beach vibe. They proudly serve coffee from Look Alive Coffee, a St. Petersburg- based roaster, and offer a menu designed to balance quality with convenience. Along with espresso drinks and brewed coffee, they serve smoothies, pastries, grab-and- go items, and simple and culturally diverse breakfast and lunch options. Opening in Palmetto was a very intentional choice. Nick is a Palmetto native and opening a business in his hometown has made their experience especially meaningful. Being located near their kids schools, local businesses, and a busy roadway allows them to serve the surrounding neighborhood while building real relationships with the people who live and work here. They aim to be a local favorite. Stop by for a visit. Hours are 8am- 4pm (closed Tuesday) and 8am-1pm Sunday.
