On August 4, 2025, MCSO received communication from a federal agency regarding an initiative requiring data integration. The guidance provided was limited, but IT Lead System Administrator Michael Hamilton immediately took initiative, engaging with the MCSO legal team and FDLE to obtain the technical and procedural clarification necessary to move forward. His prompt action ensured the project advanced without delay.

The application supplied by FDLE through its contractor consisted of a basic web interface requiring manual entry of numerous data fields, many of which were already being entered into the existing MCSO records system. This created redundant data entry and increased the time deputies needed to complete required documentation. Recognizing the inefficiency, Michael developed multiple implementation options within the records application, collaborated with management to determine the best course of action, and built a proof-of-concept for the test server within days. This proactive approach enabled early validation and positioned the agency ahead of implementation timelines. Michael then designed, developed, and tested a Functional Interface (FI) to automate secure data transfers, and the system was production-ready by August 22, 2025. In addition, he strengthened the system’s long-term capabilities by repurposing existing records codes to enhance interoperability and ensure alignment with future compliance standards. Michael Hamilton’s work on this initiative reflects exceptional initiative, technical expertise, innovation, and cross-agency collaboration. Through decisive action and strategic problem-solving, he transformed an unclear directive into a fully operational, automated system that improves data integrity and operational efficiency agency wide. In recognition of his leadership and outstanding performance, IT Lead System Administrator Michael Hamilton has been named MCSO’s Employee of the Month for March 2026.
